Laurel leaves were used in ancient Greece & Romans for poets, generals & emperors as a symbol of greatness & wisdom. The leaves had an association with prophecy and were often planted outside people's houses in the mediterranean.
Aroma: Bay Laurel essential oil has lovely spicy notes and a strong herbaceous aroma.
Properties: Physically it is thought to be a hair & scalp tonic. It is great for stimulating the mind and for clearing the head. It is useful for the muscular & skeletal system and is supportive for the immune system. Bay laurel is cited as being useful for female reproductive cycles. It can also be useful for oily skin.
Bay laurel is a great oil for promoting self esteem, courage & confidence. It is a useful oil for getting in touch with your intuition and for inspiration. Bay laurel is believed to be protective.
It is steamed distilled from the leaves.
Blends with: citrus oils, spice oils, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, juniper, lavender, marjoram, rosemary & ylang ylang.
Shelf life: It will keep for around 2-3 years if stored with lid tightly closed in a cool, dark area.
